The Standard Exports page is used to export employee data and adjustment letters from SimplyMerit. Exports can be run at any time and as often as needed—running an export does not set flags, lock features, or change data.
Navigation: Configuration > Standard Exports
Key Notes Before You Export
Exports run as a background process and generate a file you can download once complete.
You can monitor progress by refreshing the page.
SimplyMerit also sends an email notification when the export is completed with a link to download.
Exported data can be modified and re-imported via
Configuration > Data Import(commonly used for bulk corrections).
Tabs on Standard Exports
Your environment may show some or all of the following tabs (based on enabled features / integrations):
Total Rewards Letters
Salary Letters
Bonus Letters
Equity Letters
Downloads
Universal Data
Namely Data
Note: The legacy Criterion export option referenced in older documentation is no longer available in the current UI.
Universal Data Tab
The Universal Data tab is the standard export format and can be used even if you also integrate with a specific HRIS.
Common Universal Data exports
Basic Employee Data – from Import
Exports the employee dataset in the same format as your original import. This is commonly used to:
recover a lost import file
make many corrections outside SimplyMerit and re-import
Click Start New Export to generate the file.
Final Employee Data
When the merit and/or bonus cycle is complete, this export outputs employee data, including merit adjustments, bonus allocations, comments, and more, intended for feeding updates back into HRIS/payroll systems.
Click Start New Export to generate the file.
Additional Universal exports
These exports are just of their respective data, giving you a much smaller CSV with just what you're looking for.
Bonus Export
Equity Export
Employee Exceptions Export
Final Approval – Data Export (Final Approver-triggered)
Namely Data Tab
The Namely Data tab provides exports formatted for Namely conventions and can also be used as part of the Namely import/export workflow.
In most environments, the Namely Data tab mirrors the structure of Universal exports, but with Namely-aligned formatting and purpose-specific exports (e.g., “Namely General Employee Data” and “Namely Final Employee Data”).
SimplyMerit can be integrated directly within the Namely user interface by adding a link to the Resources menu within Namely. The following illustrates how to do this:
Downloads Tab
The Downloads tab lists previously generated files (data exports and/or other downloadable output depending on your enabled modules) ran from the My Org and My Team pages.
Letter Tabs (Total Rewards / Salary / Bonus / Equity)
Each letter tab follows the same distribution structure—only the letter type changes.
Common options on each Letter tab
1) All Letters (Admin download)
Generates a downloadable package (a ZIP) containing the letters.
2) Send Letters to Managers
Sends each manager a link back to SimplyMerit to download their team’s letters. Only managers with approved adjustments receive notifications (behavior is cycle-dependent and aligned with standard letter distribution rules).
3) Send Letters to Employees
Sends letters directly to employees.
Subsequent Imports (Important operational cautions)
Avoid re-importing manager-editable “preload” fields unless you intend to override manager work.
You do not need to re-import the entire population—import only employees and fields that require updates to speed processing, but always include Email (unique identifier).
