The System Control page allows administrators to manage high-level application behavior, user access, communications, and system safeguards throughout the compensation cycle. These settings are typically configured during implementation and revisited at key milestones such as finalization, manager rollout, and post-cycle cleanup.
Budget Planning Mode
Budget Planning Mode is used to signal to stakeholders that SimplyMerit is currently being used for budget planning and/or accrual modeling, rather than active manager input.
When enabled, the application clearly indicates that the system is in a planning state.
This is often used prior to manager invitations, during early modeling or finance reviews.
Finalize Company
Finalizing the company transitions SimplyMerit from configuration into an active allocation cycle.
Once the company is finalized:
Managers and other users can begin receiving system emails from SimplyMerit.
Invitations can be sent to managers and delegates.
The allocation process can begin.
Enable Manager Emails
When Enable Manager Emails is turned on, SimplyMerit will send system emails (such as manager notifications) directly to managers.
When Enable Manager Emails is turned off, manager emails are redirected to the primary admin email address instead.
This setting does not impact invitation emails or password reset emails.
Important Notes
Finalizing the company is required before manager invitations can be sent.
Once finalized, users may begin receiving emails based on the Enable Manager Emails setting.
You can adjust the Enable Manager Emails toggle at any time after finalization.
Toggle to CoreTeam
SimplyMerit can be switched into CoreTeam mode, a workforce management tool used for scenarios such as:
Layoffs
Furloughs
Pay reductions
Schedule reductions
Enabling this toggle switches the application from standard SimplyMerit compensation workflows to CoreTeam functionality. It is not recommended to use this unless you are 100% certain.
Send Manager Emails to Delegates
This option controls whether emails that normally go to managers are also sent to their assigned delegates.
When enabled, delegates receive the same system emails as managers.
Useful for HR business partners or executive assistants supporting managers during the cycle.
Sending Invitations
System Control centralizes all invitation workflows.
Send Admin Invites
Invites all configured admins into SimplyMerit.
Send Manager Invites
Invites managers into the application.
Note: The company must be finalized before manager invites can be sent.
Send Delegate Invites
Invites delegates into SimplyMerit once they have been assigned.
Lock-Out Managers
Once managers have completed their entries, admins can lock managers out of the application.
Prevents managers from logging in.
Admins retain full access.
Enabling this will immediately force managers out of the system and may result in unsaved changes.
Lock SimplyMerit for Changes
This option places SimplyMerit into a view-only state for managers and delegates.
Managers and delegates can still log in, but cannot make changes.
Admins maintain full edit access.
Commonly used during final reviews or before letter generation.
Single Sign-On (SSO)
Admins can enforce Single Sign-On for all users.
When enabled, users must authenticate through the selected SSO provider.
If unsure whether SSO should be enabled, contact SimplyMerit Support before activating or changing.
Manage Letters
The Manage Letters section controls enhanced letter functionality and file naming.
Enable Enhanced Letters
When enabled:
Advanced formatting is available.
Total Rewards Statements are enabled.
Template selection and enhanced previews become available on the Letters page.
File Prefix / File Suffix
Admins can define custom file naming logic for generated letters using SimplyMerit variables.
Useful for sorting, batching, and manual distribution.
Variables are listed on Configuration → Letters.
Reset Notes
Admins can bulk-delete notes across the system.
System Notes
Delete all system-generated notes
Or delete all system notes except the current system note
HR Admin Notes
Delete all HR admin notes
Or delete all HR admin notes except the current HR admin note
Reset Employee Data
This action completely removes employee and user data from SimplyMerit.
HR admins and the CEO are retained.
Company-level configuration (performance scales, budgets, etc.) is preserved.
An export of the current data state is generated automatically before deletion.
⚠️ This action is irreversible and should be used with extreme caution.
