March 2026
Dynamic Fields
Dynamic Fields takes Custom Fields to a whole new level! They are essentially the same as Custom Fields but with the ability to define data types (string, amount, and date) plus the ability to provide a list of options in a dropdown (choice). Additionally, Administrators can make the view-only or editable for managers.
Finally, Dynamic Fields are available on the Company, Employee, Bonus, and Equity levels, which provides a tremendous amount of flexibility that Custom Fields was not able to provide.
Direct and Indirect Reports
As the HR Administrator, you can now allow managers to view and edit both their direct and indirect reports on the My Team planning screen. This gives leaders a better way to review their full organization in one place, with support for sorting, filtering, and editing across the entire reporting structure.

Manager Email Communications
SimplyMerit now includes a new Communications tab that makes manager email settings much easier to manage. Administrators can now control which managers receive SimplyMerit emails, which managers do not, and pause manager email communications when needed.
This brings email communication controls into one visible place and removes the need to rely on hidden settings or workarounds.

SSO Customers - Open SimplyMerit Without Invitation Emails
For SSO customers, SimplyMerit now gives you the option to launch access for managers without sending the standard SimplyMerit invitation email. This allows your team to manage launch communications entirely on your own terms.
You can find this option on the Configuration > System Control screen.
Optionally Hide Roll-Up Metrics
You can now choose to hide the roll-up metrics that display Actual and Target budgeted merit percentages. These metrics can be confusing in cycles that use proration, since prorations affect the calculations and may cause the displayed budget percent to appear lower than expected.
For example, a manager with a 3.0% budget may see a lower net budget percentage when prorations are included in the calculation. This new setting allows you to turn off those data points when they are not helpful for your process.
You can find this option on the Configuration > Active Features screen.
Letters - Choose who to generate a test PDF for
Admins can now enter an EMP_ID to generate a test letter for that specific employee.
You can find this option on the Configuration > Letters screen.

Active Features
Background Progress Shimmer
Budget totals are updated in the background after managers save their information. Enabling the shimmer effect shows a visual indicator while budget rollups are being recalculated.
Show Indirect Reports
When enabled, managers can view their indirect reports (reports of their direct reports) in addition to their direct reports. Note that due to the amount of data sent to the browser, there is a built-in limit to the number of indirect reports you can have to use this feature. If you are over the limit, attempting to enable it on your My Team page will show a popup modal explaining it is unavailable.
January 2026
System Control
You can now independently control Finalize Company and Enable Manager Emails under Config > System Control.
Enable Manager Emails - When enabled, SimplyMerit will send emails to managers. When it is disabled, manager emails will be redirected to the primary admin email address. This setting does not impact invitation or password reset emails.
Active Features
The Current Salary column can now be renamed or disabled under Config > Active Features > Merit.
